Hsin Chong Aster received the Letter of Acceptance dated 28 January 2021 from Build King – Hyundai Joint Venture for the Sub-Contract Works to cover Building Services Installation, Fire Services, Plumbing and Drainage, Sanitary Fittings Installation, Electrical, LV Switchboard, Diesel Generator, Broadcast Reception, Burglar Alarm and Security System, Audio Electronics Installation, Fuel Tank and Pipe Works, ACMV Installation, Pneumatic Tube System among others.
As a backgrounder, the old UCH was opened in 1973. Existing operation volume requires space, improved and enhanced facilities to better serve the growing demands, thus the expansion project.
The project is implemented in two stages, preparatory and main works. The preparatory works commenced in 2012 and was completed in late 2020, after which the superstructure and refurbishment works started, along with pedestrian linkages and associated works. This will be due to complete in 2025.
The main works include construction of new ambulatory block (Block A), an extension to Block S and the auxiliary electrical and mechanical building, pedestrian linkages to neighbouring site, linkages between hospital blocks; refurbishment of Blocks P,S, K and L; associated external works and alteration and addition works inside existing blocks.
